I was feeling insatiably low No hope of rising up I heard a voice inside my head Promising to change my rotten luck Bait and Switch Things aren't what they appear to be Bait and Switch Sign your whole life away to me Everything you think you want All that you pretend to need I will deliver to you now The product of your sordid greed Bait and Switch Things aren't what they appear to be Hate and Bitch Sign your whole life away to me

Pocket Liner 03:20
Slow down, you’ve got to make the connection Push the money in another direction Face down under party protection Now it’s time to steal another election Lining your pockets Lining your pockets Speed up, you’ve got to fill up your pockets Eyes popping right out of the socket Once you start, nothing can stop it Hot cash, nothing can top it Lining your pockets Lining your pockets Hey Nothing can stop it Lining your pockets Slow down, you’ve got to break the convention All it takes is a little prevention A new face of your own invention You reappear in another dimension Lining your pockets Lining your pockets Nothing can stop it Lining your pockets

Frankenstein 04:25
I saw a monster walking the streets of our town He wore a suit and permanent green-faced frown Giant blood-filled bags under his eyes You can tell where he’s been from the screams and cries Frankenstein Frankenstein The hound dogs are howling for your hide Frankenstein Frankenstein They shouldn’t have brought that monster back to life I saw the monster get behind the wheel of his car He drove downtown and ventured inside of a bar Twenty shots of whiskey shocked him alive That stupid mother-fucker got back in his car for a drive Frankenstein Frankenstein They shouldn’t have brought that monster back to life The needle hit ninety somewhere on Malibu Road Frankie didn’t see the flatbed pulling a load He slammed on the brakes and swerved off into a tree Where Frankenstein was put down instantly Frankenstein Frankenstein The hound dogs are howling in the night Frankenstein Frankenstein The paramedics shouldn’t have saved his life

Deliver us from punishment When the desolation comes May the angels lead us into paradise Deliver us from misery That terrible and bitter day May the angels guide us through the fire When eternal riches come The setting sun Bank of Jerusalem I lay my body down to rest The hardest test Is yet to come I’m made to tremble and I fear That day of transcendental wrath May the angels bring us back to life When eternal riches come Thy will be done Bank of Jerusalem I lay my body down to rest The hardest test Is yet to come Deliver us from avarice The harvest of a spoiled crop May the angels lift us from the ground When eternal riches come The setting sun Bank of Jerusalem I lay my body down to rest The hardest test Is yet to come

You’re gonna feel some anger At Damon and Marlena Because they think it’s funny Spending other people’s money Paulette was their client And not a mental giant So she couldn’t see the danger With Damon and Marlena Poor Paulette Poor Paulette Poor Paulette Poor Paulette They went up to Seattle To have another battle To slaughter some more cattle To hear the saber rattle But when you are too needy When you’re arrogant and greedy When the predators are feeding They pick until it’s bleeding Poor Paulette Poor Paulette Poor Paulette Poor Paulette Poor Paulette Poor Paulette Poor Paulette Poor Paulette Damon and Marlena Preying on a stranger Lying in the chamber Stealing from the manger

This is the story of Ernie and Stephanie Two big idiots living next door to me Couldn’t even show the slightest of decency Now I have to sleep in the shadow of the enemy Ernie and Stephanie tried to take property Lied through their teeth to the planner of the city Told all the neighbors a bunch of malarkey To turn ‘em all against us and make them act snarky Where is the courtesy? Where has it gone? Someone please enlighten me Where has it gone? Where has it gone? Where has it gone? Where has it gone? Ernie and Stephanie were really out of order It all came down to where is the border But getting them to think was a pretty tall order Now I have to sleep on the verge of disorder Where is the courtesy? Where has it gone? Someone please enlighten me Where has it gone? Where has it gone? Where has it gone? Where has it gone? Ernie and Stephanie caught in hypocricy Couldn’t come straight and admit that they lied to me Couldn’t come straight and give an apology Now they can’t sleep from the weight of their dishonesty Where is the courtesy? Where did it go? Someone please enlighten me Where did it go? Where did it go? Where did it go? Where did it go?

The Sin Tax 05:11
I don’t know what you want me to say I don’t know all the games that you play I don’t know what you want me to do But I want to be with you I don’t care what you want me to be I’m not scared of the ghosts that you flee I don’t care if you run from the truth ‘Cause I want to run with you I will pay the sin tax You will pay the sin tax We will pay the sin tax The syntax I don’t know what you want me to take I don’t know all the dreams that you break I don’t know what you want to pursue But I want to go with you I don’t care what you say to my face I don’t care if you’re falling from grace I don’t care if it’s out of the blue ‘Cause I’m going there with you Want to be near you I want to be near you now To taste the sweetness The sweetness I don’t care what you want me to be I’m not scared of the ghosts that you see I don’t care if you run from the truth ‘Cause I want to run with you I don’t know what you want me to say I don’t know all the games that you play I don’t know what you want me to do But I want to be with you I will pay a sin tax You will pay a sin tax We will pay a sin tax The syntax

Stuff 02:56
Stuff the stuff into the bag Put the bag into the car Drive the car out of the town Drop the stuff at the meeting place It’s the stuff of the dreams The stuff of schemes Stuff the stuff into the purse Hold the purse under your arm Give the stuff to a shaking man Put the stuff out of your mind It’s the stuff of the dreams The stuff of schemes

Oh 07:35
I watch I feel I touch I heal I take I steal I pray I kneel Steam is rising from the rusted grate The ghosts of those abandoned long before their fate Their souls are coming over you
10.
Luminous 04:00
There’s too many choices So I choose nothing There’s too many voices So I choose silence There’s too many dishes So I choose hunger There’s too many angles So I choose a straight line A straight line to Nowhere A straight line above me A straight that stretches To Nowhere There’s too many storm clouds So I find the indoors There’s too many voyeurs So I find the curtains There’s too many icebergs So I find the sunshine There’s too many eyesores So I find the darkness The darkness of Nowhere The darkness below me The darkness that stretches To Nowhere There’s too many jokers So I take the torment There’s too many forlorn So I take a moment A moment of my time A moment inside me A moment that stretches To Nowhere A moment A straight line to Nowhere The darkness above me A moment that stretches To Nowhere

about

SinTax is the second solo album by Wishnefsky, who led the alternative band Jabberwock in the 90s. The incredible Michael James (Hole, Jane’s Addiction, Too Much Joy, New Radicals) mixed SinTax.

SinTax combines alternative rock with electronica, at times suggesting such diverse influences as Radiohead, Thomas Dolby, and Michael Brook. Wishnefsky conjures unique, ethereal soundscapes over powerful grooves; humanity floating in a sea of technology. Wishnefsky’s voice has a rich timbre remindful of Elvis Costello and his melodies imply Mark Eitzel.

Lyrically, the songs on SinTax address one of the seven deadly sins: avarice. Wishnefsky spins tales about the participants on both sides of the table: the givers and the takers, and the dichotomy we all feel when confronted with equations containing both happiness and materialism. Wishnefsky takes us for a ride through places where greed governs and the characters struggle to overcome, or finally succumb to, their lust for riches.

The CD artwork features the work of two award-winning photographers: Serena Wellen and Ed Nahin.
