about

There is absolutely no special significance whatsoever about the title of this song. It merely reflects the date I started working on it. When I start new ideas, I name them by their birthday. Later, if the idea grows into a legitimate song, I will give it a proper title. Here, no matter how hard I slammed my head into the corner of the microwave, I could not think up a decent title.

As for the lyric, it concerns the death of a fictional character who lives his entire life in the foul smoke of the city and dies from the fresh air of the countryside.

The rhythm track is a good example of the loop layering technique I frequently employed while devising these songs.

This song didn't really come to life until I added electric guitar.

lyrics

NOVEMBER 7

We took him out of the country
And brought him back to the city where he knows his way
Through the serpentine alleys
The smoke filled caverns where they call his name
With a generous offer
With a promise and a guarantee
He was losing will to live
No taste of malice in the air to breathe

It took the glare of the neon
To light a path to his resting place
The peace that beckons
A state of beautiful grace

Into the rain
Into the night
Into the sky that burns so bright
Into the storm
Into the flame
Into the source of all the pain
Into the past
Into the egg
Into the urge between your legs
Into the day
Into the sun
Into the place where we are one

We took him out of the city
And brought him to a grave in the countryside
And the fresh air hit him
His spirit rose into fading night
A spirit of the smoke
A taste of malice in the air to breathe

And the caverns were calling
The alleys were deserted again
The racket of the taxis
Chopping up the scattered rain

Into the rain
Into the night
Into the sky that burns so bright
Into the day
Into the sun
Into the place where we are one

We are one
